The Happiest Country in the World — and One of the Best for Students

Finland has been ranked the world's happiest country for seven consecutive years by the UN World Happiness Report. Its education system is consistently ranked among the world's finest — Finnish universities are known for strong research, excellent teaching, and a genuinely supportive student culture.

One of Finland's most student-friendly policies: degree students face no restrictions on working hours — you can work as many hours as you can manage alongside your studies. This is extremely rare among international student destinations and can dramatically reduce your living costs.

Finnish universities offer a growing range of English-medium programs, particularly at the master's level, in technology, business, engineering, and social sciences. Aalto University and University of Helsinki regularly rank in global top 100 lists.

Finland is a member of the EU and the Schengen Area, meaning your residence permit allows free travel across 26 European countries — an incredible opportunity during semester breaks and holidays.

While tuition fees were introduced for non-EU/EEA students in 2017, many universities offer generous scholarship programs covering partial or full tuition for excellent international students.
